standard chartered marathon singapore 2013

yey...! another milestone for me :) that was when i crossed the finish line.

yes! i was able to crossed the finish line of 42km after 6 hours 42 minutes. my first full marathon, standard chartered marathon singapore 2013 which was held last december 1. i really didn't expect to make it 'cos i haven't diligently followed my training schedule. but then, my friends encouraged me every time that i can do it. that i just have to be motivated. i haven't had run for the last two months before the event.

in the middle of the marathon i was craving for something to eat. but i wasn't able to buy anything 'cos i don't have cash with me and they will not accept my debit card if i will not purchase minimum of s$20 :(

with preggy lerie, she purposely waited
for me at the finish line
at 30km point, i was so excited to see bananas. i grabbed two and ate all of it... my tummy was so happy, hehehe...

with fritzie,she ran 10km
i felt so great to cross the finish line and so touched to have friends waiting to congratulate me. lerie & fritz, thank you so much! it meant a lot to me :))

yey..! to finisher tee and medal
i hope that this will not be my last full marathon. another bucket list ticked off :D

trail run at macritchie reservoir park

'twas august 18, i'm scheduled to run 16km for my full marathon training. i thought of running from ang mo kio to macritchie reservoir park.

running towards there was a bit of a challenge for me, as i've only been there once and i took a bus that time. but i was thankful i found my way with some traffic violations ;)

upon reaching there i continued to run to the west direction along lornie road. after a while, i found myself running alone but once in a while one or two runner would pass me. later did i realized that i'm running on a trail. i only not saw few runners but there were few monkeys along the way, too.

wet & muddy trail
the trail was wet and muddy. it was a cool and challenging run, not knowing how long and when the trail would end. i was happy that by the time i came out of the trail i completed 16km.

great & wonderful sunrise in the middle of red dot city
it was my first time to run on a trail :) i't s a great experience to blend with nature along the way.

adidas king of the road - singapore 2013

i went home last tuesday night and made sure to be back here on saturday to be able to join the adidas king of the road singapore 2013. i had to sleep early as i have to run 16.8km for the said event.

not knowing that the first trip of train is 6:00am on sundays, i found myself alone on the platform bound for marina bay. i went out of the train station, and found another filipino runner waiting for his friend, both joining the race. the three of us ended up taking the same cab to esplanade mall. on our way, the rain started to fall heavily :( we were confused as to what will happen on the race.

runners were waiting under the comfort of esplanade mall & theater from the heavy rain. at around 6:14am, i received a text message from adidaskotr, "according to the weather forecast report from nea, lightning and thunderstorms are expected. we will advise all runners by 6:15am if the race is delayed."

second text message was, "nea reports continued thunderstorm. for the safety of all runners, 16.8km race is now postponed to 6:50am..." original flag-off time was 6:30am.

but it was already 7:00am and it was still raining. after a while someone announced that the race is cancelled. indeed, at 7:08am another text message was received, "due to unforeseen weather conditions, we regret to announce the adidas king of the road race is officially cancelled. we apologize for this inconvenience but the safety and health of runners are our utmost priority."

runners dispersing after the announcement
i was so sad that the event was cancelled :( i could have stayed one more day with nanay... they'll be sending the medals to all registered runners though...

full crazy for scms 2013

this is it...! am i full crazy...? yes, i will be, hehehe... after running for few 10kms and 21 kms, it's time to run for 42kms :))

there's no turning back...! i finally registered for full marathon this coming 1st of december on standard chartered marathon singapore...

let's do this... i just hope i would be able to finish the race in 5 to 6 hours time and could still walk the next day, hehehe...

pocari sweat run 2013 race result

yah, i know this is quiet late a post of my race result for pocari sweat run 2013...

i found out the race result last 18th which is two days after the race... and i think something is not right about it. take a look...

result 1

my nett time is longer than my gun time... maybe there had been some error...

when i take a look at my result today, as i wanted the link to be inserted here in my blog, look what i've found ;) i think they had corrected it... and maybe this applies for everyone...

result 2
i would agree on the second result as i crossed the start lane a few seconds after the first row or runners at the gun time ;) and it almost coincides my runkeeper app timing as well...

here's to pocari sweat run 2013 result...

pocari sweat run 2013

yesterday, was my first long run of my 20-weeks training for full marathon. i'm supposed to run 8kms but I ran 10kms for pocari sweat run 2013…

i ran alone with thousands of runnners 'coz my running mates and friends were not around, but it was still fun.

the nearest i could be on starting lane

we had a cool and a bit tough route as we have to run up twice marina barrage. first was in between 3km & 4km mark and the second was between 8km & 9km mark...

sweat for pocari
as per my runkeeper app i finished a 10.52kms at 01h 17m 05s... will be waiting for the official result in the next few days...

my full marathon training schedule

an addition to my bucketlist, which is still to be updated as i have more to come ;) is to run a full marathon...

i've been joining running events for over a year now in various distances, from 10km to 21km... and i wanted to feel and experience how it would be being full crazy, that is to run a full marathon...

i found this 20 weeks intermediate run marathon training plan that can be customized for the upcoming race day. but i have to modify it to accommodate my monthly visitor...

week 1 to week 10

my day 1 started yesterday and i hope to have determination and discipline to go on with this schedule and run the full marathon for standard chartered this coming december 1...

week 11 to week 20, the race day..!!!
encouragement and inspiration are welcome to help me finish the race and fulfill this from my bucketlist...

#bostonMarathon

the last thing we want to know early in the morning is sad news... we always wanted to start our day with something good and wonderful...

but this morning we read news about bomb explosions on boston marathon... it's so sad :(

runners poured so much passion and dedication in their training prior to the said event. each respective supporter were their to cheer them up to finish line.

but only to be ruined by such incident, by heartless people...

finish line is where fulfillment is achieved not grief...

i'm happy for the improvement of my race time... hopefully, next time i would be near 2hrs 30mins, that would be amazing, hehehe...

2XU compression run 2013

yey...! i thought i won't be able to make it to the finish line... but i wasn't only able to reach the finish line, i was able to beat the time of my two previous 21km run... i finished at 2hrs 47mins :)) as per my runkeeper app.

i planned to run with 2:30 pacers but i was left behind after 6km point... i was running side by side with them but was so worn out and started to walk... without so much training i am still motivated to finish the race...

standard chartered marathon singapore 2012

december 2, 2012 the day when a total of 53,000 registered runners ran for a reason. i ran the half marathon to prove to myself that I can do it. and i was so happy i did it. with so much thanks from God above for the strength and endurance He gave me on that day... with encouragement from friends and of course from you, brad.

a bit of pose at universal studios ;)
it was a great experience to be able to join the largest running event here in singapore :)) there were 10,000 registered runners for the half marathon and i am so amazed to know that i rank 1074 overall for the said category :)) my nett time was 2hrs 52mins 29.83secs beating my previous timing by almost 10mins.

sweat on after the run...
i have so much respect for the full marathon finishers especially to lerie and frank. you did a great job guys!!!

with fellow runners (full crazy, half crazy and almost crazy) hehehe

it was a hot sunday morning run... at 10 km point towards the end of my run the sun was just burning hot that i had goosebumps. a little part of me almost wanted to stop but i encouraged myself to finish the race. also, inspired running with my wished adidas running shoes, i was able to step on the finish line... thank you, baby for fulfilling that wish for me :))

charmley is all in :))
yes! i was...
i finished my 16.8km run after 2 hours 3 minutes 24.62 seconds. i ranked 261 for womens open ;) i hope i knew how many runners on this category, but for sure i didn't rank last, hehehe...

i was alone as my running buddy lerie ran on a different running event. we didn't get a sweaty hug at the finish line, hehehe...

next run will be on december 2, 21km for standard chartered marathon singapore 2012 :)

official result - safra singapore bay run & army half marathon

the result of safra singapore bay run & army half marathon 2012 held last sunday, 9 september is out...

here's mine...

top: when average runner finished
center: when female winner finished
below: when overall winner finished

i was behind 50% mark, but i think it's not bad for someone like me who run my first 21km... i hope to improve my speed on my next run...

but one thing for sure, i did enjoy and had fun...!

to check result of runners you may know, safra result ...

safra singapore bay run & army half marathon 2012

yey…! i'm now a 21km finisher :)) after eight weeks of preparation i was indeed ready as i was able to finish the run… i slept over lerie's place as we have to get off very early for the marathon, our flag off time was 5:15 in the morning. thank you so much lerie ;)

it was three hours of running and all i can think of was to finish the run... 'twas funny coz seeing the last 400m mark makes me want to stop but i keep on running and was so happy seeing the finish lane ahead...

as per runkeeper app
still waiting for the official result

"distance is nothing if you're loving it"

it was so comforting accepting and holding the finisher medal... i'm thankful to have this run with lerie, adi and the very comfy running socks. thanks ley ;) i'm thankful for the strength and endurance He provided me...

after the race with my running buddy lerie

this week i will start to train again for 21km for standard chartered marathon singapore 2012 on december 2 and 16.8km for adidas king of the road on october 28. but this time it'll not be as rigid as i have done for safra, i'll be following the training schedule lerie shared to me...

see you runners...!

ready (hopefully)

the day after my first 10km run for pocari sweat last 15th of july, i started to train for my first 21km half marathon this 9th of september.

i found this 10-week half marathon training schedule which i had as a guide... also lerie, gave me a 12-week training schedule but i think i'll follow that for the next half marathon this coming december for standard chartered...

i only have 8 weeks left, so i started my run on the third week of the schedule. i usually run in the evenings, few minutes after i get home from work and have my long run on sunday mornings... i haven't run on every schedule 'coz i was sick for few days plus the monthly period a girl like me expects...

goal vs achieved distance in every run

i pray for strength and endurance that i maybe able to finish the 21km run and receive the finisher medal... but inspired as i am i know i can finish the race together with adi...

10km - pocari sweat run 2012

yay…! i am now a finisher of a 10km run :))
last sunday, 15th of july, was an exciting day for me. it was my first official 10km run. i've been looking forward to this day since i registered for the event, the pocari sweat run 2012 at gardens by the bay.

running with hundreds or maybe even thousands of runners was just so cool. i have passed some but there were more  runners who passed by me, hehehe...
it just feels so very good :))

it felt so very good crossing the finish line and receiving the finisher medal. and  frank was indeed right, that after the marathon, it feels like, "let's go for another one..."

i've been jogging and running as a form of my exercise and motivated to run and join more running events. now, i'm looking forward for two 21km run this september and december. praying and hoping to cross the finish line.

running with cool and awesome guys from church and the nice view along the way, made it more fun...

my result as per runKeeper app

"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."---George S. Patton, US Army General, 1912 Olympian
